Plagiarism & Referencing
Plagiarism
Imperial College London definition
“…the presentation of another person’s thoughts or words as though they were your own, must be avoided, with particular care in coursework, essays and reports written in your own time. You are encouraged to read and criticise the work of others as much as possible, and you are expected to incorporate this in your thinking and in your coursework and assessments. But you must acknowledge and label your sources.”

Have you seen/read the statement on plagiarism on the Maths Department website?
Maths Department statement on plagiarism
There is also a section on plagiarism for undergraduates on the Library website.
Referencing
Referencing is not just about including a reference list at the end of your project.
You must reference within the text of the project if you have taken an idea or exact wording from a source.
Referencing styles
The library website pages on reference management have some useful links to referencing guides for both the Harvard and Vancouver styles.
The key is to pick one style and be consistent.
